You can find all this and more at amazing Chatuchak market. There are almost 9,000 individual booths overflowing with every imaginable type of wares to catch your fancy. Once inside the market, you will be catch up in a world of bursting crowds and stalls stretching as far as the eye can see.

Wat Pho
Not too far from the Grand Palace, and usually visited on the same trip, is the impressive Wat Pho. This is the largest ‘wat’ (Buddhist temple) complex in Bangkok and it will take you a fair amount of time to cover the entire grounds and marvel at every ornately decorated spire and each majestic, elegant temple monument. It is most famous for its enormous reclining Buddha.

Wat Arun
Another beautiful temple, Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) is one of Bangkok’s most famous temples. This imposing, eye-catching Chedi complex is one of the tallest in Bangkok and is intricately and ornately decorated. It is also one of the oldest, having been built before the city was properly established as the capital city.

Dusit Zoo (Wild Dusit Show Pictures).

Dusit Zoo (Khao Din) is a very popular place for family with children or even for young couple and all ages. This zoo and park is located at Rama V Road, Dusit , Bangkok, and adjacent to the Old Parliament.

Local Thai people know that Dusit Zoo has lush green surrounds and many flowering shrubs and trees with large ponds complete with foot-paddle boats, play - grounds for the kids and shady picnic areas.

The Anantasamakhom Throne Hall marble building was built in the reign of King Rama V in the Italian Renaissaance architectural style.The ceiling of the dome was highlighted by fresco paintings of important Royal functions during the reign of King Rama I up to King Rama VI.This is also the old parliament building.

The building is still used to hold important royal and state ceremonies.The last one being the 2004 APEX meeting.
The large paved area in front of the building is where the annual Trooping of the Colour is held every December.

Also,the annual Red Cross fair during end of March where you can buy cheap goods and watch many activities such as Thai dancing during this fair .The Throne Hall is open to the public only once a year during Children’s Day ( 2nd Sat in January ).

Phra Maha Chedi Sri Rajakarn consists of four huge pagodas, corresponding to the reigns of the four first Thai kings of the Chakri dynasty.

Wat Pho has long been involved in health. Different statues of hermits in exercise postures can be seen. At present Wat Pho is still a center for traditional Thai massage, which can be experienced in situ.

The main chapel boundary wall is decorated with bas-reliefs from the Ramayana. You will see copies of the images on transparent pages all over Thailand.

Wat Pho is a definite must on your visit to Bangkok.

The best place to go for any type of computer shopping is the multistory Panthip Plaza on Phetburi / Petchburi Rd in Pratunam district (not far from the Amari Watergate hotel). Prices are very cheap and the range extensive, but not all the vendors speak a lot of English.

Though there are a wide range of computer related products on sale, Panthip is most (in)famous for the huge amount of pirated software available. There are literally dozens of different vendors selling hacked versions of software programs, and even the most up-to-date software is available amazingly quickly. Microsoft Windows XP, for instance, had been available in Panthip some weeks prior even to it’s official launch in the USA, let alone in Thailand.

As well as software, pirated versions of all of the top Hollywood movies are also available on DVD or VCD, as are compilation MP3 CD’s with around 12 albums on each (right). Each CD/VCD/CDROM costs only around 100-150B, as the intense competition helps to keep the prices low. The DVDs cost around 300B or so, and may or may not have had the regional coding removed.

Ordinary buses 2 and 11 and air-con buses 5, 11 and 12 all pass outside of Panthip Plaza, or any taxi driver will know it (it’s pronounced as pan-tip). You may also find Panthip written in English as ‘Pantip’ (including on the building itself), but ‘Panthip’ is the more common elsewhere and, according to the official way of romanising Thai, the correct spelling.

Lots of food outlets at basement level : Subway, Auntie Anne’s, McDonalds, Burger King, KFC, Au Bon Pain.
On the second floor we actually saw open showrooms for both Maserati, Lamborghini and Ferrari cars. Asia Books is also on the second floor.
Furniture outlets (among them a large S.B. Furniture shop) on the 3rd floor.
There is a Starbucks, much smaller than we would have anticipated, on the 3rd floor. There are 2 more Starbucks outlets in the complex, one located at Siam Paragon Cineplex.
IT City, our favored outlet for computers and computer accessories, has a large store on the 4th floor.
On the 4th floor there is also what is called ‘A passage to Asian Arts and Crafts’ with about 20 shops showing arts and crafts of Thailand and Asia.

Paragon CinePlex, KrungSri IMAX (movie theatres) are located on the 5th and 6th floors. There are 5 IMAX theatres and some 9 regular movie theatres. As most movie theatres in Bangkok, the seating is comfortable, the quality of the sound and pictures are excellent, and you get good value for money.

There is an exhibition and convention center. The basement of Siam Paragon houses the Siam Ocean World, containing some small and large aquariums.

The area between MBK Center and Central Chitlom was already the major shopping area in Bangkok. Siam Paragon has certainly reinforced that. Probably few people were actually waiting for yet another megastore, but now it is there and attracts a substantial number of visitors each day. The store is spacious, and it is rather comfortable walking around.
