At the southern edge of this arid region stands a trio of contiguous national reserves with varied lodging and good access by road from Nairobi, 200 miles (325 kilometers) to the south. Samburu Game Reserve (40,800 acres/16,500 hectares), Shaba National Reserve (59,058 acres/23,910 hectares, and Buffalo Springs National Reserve (32,400 acres/13,100 hectares) line the perennial Uaso Nyiro River, rimmed with towering river acacias and palms. The river and several springs attract much wildlife, especially in dry periods. Mammals restricted to the Masai arid zone are found here, such as Gravys zebra, the reticulated giraffe, the beisa Oryx, Guenthers dik-dik and the gerenuk. Also present are lesser kidus, elephants, grants gazelles, lions, cheetahs, leopards and 350 bird species, including the blue-flushed Somali ostrich and the bristle-crowned starling.

DAY 4: SAMBURU/LAKE NAKURU.
After breakfast at the lodge, proceed to Lake Nakuru National Park situated in the Rift Valley Region. Kenya straddles the center of the Great Rift Valley, the vast prehistoric fissure that stretches from Jordan to Mozambique. From the North to the South of Kenya the valley is lined with a series of freshwater and soda based volcanic lakes. Visit the Thomson Falls en-route before lunch. Arrive, enter the park and check-in at your Lodge. Go on a game drive later in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at Lake Nakuru National Park, the world famous haunt for pink flamingoes, is a shallow alkaline lake in Kenyas Rift Valley and some 62 km2 in size. The road from Nairobi to Nakuru passes down the kikuyu escarpment with fine views of the Kedong Valley and Mounts Suswa and Longonot. The landscape is picturesque, area of marsh and grassland alternating with rocky cliffs and outcrop. In late 80s the park also became Kenyas first rhino sanctuary and is today home to both the White and Black Rhinos. Lions, leopards, hippos, giraffes, waterbucks are equally at home in this unique park.

DAY 5: LAKE NAKURU/LAKE NAIVASHA.
After breakfast at the lodge proceed to Lake Naivasha, which is about one and a half hours drive approximately. Arrival and check-in at your lodge then have lunch. Lake Naivasha is a beautiful fresh water lake, fringed by pink papyrus. The lake made this one of Kenyas prime agricultural regions. Much of the lake is surrounded by forests of the yellow barked Acacia Xanthophlea, known as the yellow fever tree because of the color. This forest abounds with bird life, and Naivasha is known as a world class birding destination. The water of the lake draws a great range of game to these shores. Giraffes wander among the acacia, Buffaloes wallow in the swamps and Colobus monkeys call from the treetops while the lakes large hippo population sleeps the day out in the shallows. The afternoon is at leisure. You may embark on an optional boat-ride on the lake and excursion on Crescent Island. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.

DAY 6: LAKE NAIVASHA/MASAI MARA.
After breakfast, depart for the world famous Masai Mara National Reserve. Arrive at your Lodge for check-in and lunch. The lodge blends in perfectly with its surrounding hillside landscape. The accent here is on the Masai people and the wealth of wildlife, birdlife, and natural flora to be found in the fabled Masai Mara Game Reserve. Enjoy an afternoon game drive around the world famous Mara. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

DAY 7: MASAI MARA
Full day spent in the Mara with morning and afternoon game drives. Meals and overnight stay at the lodge. Today well bring you to a Masai Village to meet this nomadic tribe. You will see their dwellings, meet the Masai people, and chat with them as well as take photos. Masai Mara offers an absolutely unique variety of animals. The reason is that this hilly region is both humid and fertile, and is crossed by the Mara and Talek rivers, full of crocodiles and hippos, which carry water the whole year round. The banks of the rivers are covered in thick forest, which gradually makes way for bush and grassland. The abundance of water and excellent availability of food are the reasons why the Masai Mara, which in fact is a continuation of the Tanzanian Serengeti National Park, has the greatest population of wild animals in the whole of Africa. There is a particularly dramatic spectacle from July to November, the annual migration of huge herds of Gnus and zebras. Predators such as Hyenas, Jackals, Leopards and Lions of course, closely follow these herds. Gigantic herds of over 200 buffaloes can also be observed. Plenty of food is available for elephants, giraffes, and the many species of antelopes.

DAY 8: MASAI MARA/NAIROBI
Have breakfast at the lodge and depart for Nairobi. Arrive and proceed to Carnivore Restaurant for lunch. The afternoon is at leisure, free for shopping or rest. In the evening you will be transferred to the airport for departure back home.
