Hunting with Golden Eagle is one of the most unique features of the Kazakh life. The hunter is named kusbegi or berkutchi. The experience of wild birds training was gained by Kazakh kusbegi by centuries, the secrets were impacted from the father to the son and kept deep secret. At the present time we can meet few people with such name. These masters have innate gift of wild birds training. For hunting they tame falcons, golden eagles and eagles. Names of birds are given depending on their appearance and battle characteristics. Detail Information
Day 1:15th Sept. Fly to Ulgii/Hovd and Drive to Blue Goat Nat.Park

Transfer to the airport .Domestic flight (4hrs) to Bayan-Ölgii 1/2 hour refuel stop in Tosontsengel or Moron on arrival met by local Kazakh guide. Drive to town. After lunch, drive towards south (5-6 hrs) about 200km.We will have view to the beautiful and remote country. We visit one of the local Kazakh nomadic families and stay there for few days.

Days 2-4:16th -17th Sept. Blue Goat National Park

Every day going with local horse rangers by the wild big remote mountains of Blue Goat Nat.Park, we can watch some Argalis, Ibexs and deers. This place has many wild endangered animals and birds like snow leopard, Altai argali and Ibex,lynx, wolfrine and bearded vulture, black vulture, different kinds of falcons,golden eagle, and others. We have the chance to visit some Kazakh families and feel the grade hospitalities. Also you will see how Kazakh women make the handicrafts.

Days 5-7:18th -21st Sept. Go to Festival with Eagle hunters on horseback

Riding the Mongolian small but tough horses, you go side by side with eagle hunter to hunt fox,rabbit, wild cat and may be wolf. So you have chance to have part in this unique hunting of Altai Kazakh people. Have picnic lunch on the mountain and enjoy remote mountain country. You can try to hold the golden eagle on your hand and in photo.

Days 8-9:22nd -23rd Sept. Golden Eagle Festival

Meet the Kazakh Eagle hunters. The rodeo of eagle hunting. A fantastic opportunity for photographers and adventurers alike to see these magnificent birds up close.T here are approx.400 eagle hunters in Bayan-Ulgii aimag. Eagle hunters from around regions gather to test their finely trained birds in singular contests of speed and agility in these few days. During the festival we also see some Kazakh Traditional Horse Games like “BushKushi”(Try to take out from each other the goat skin on horseback),”Kiss woman on horseback”,”Pick up coins from the land on horseback” and others. In the evening we enjoy to have the Kazakh Concert with some traditional songs and music.

Day 10:24th Sept. Drive to Altai Tavan Bogd Nat.Park

We will drive further west. Bayan-Ulgii is rich in archaeological remains, as a reminder of the Bronze Ages and the time of the Huns and Turkic invasions. At Shiveet Hairhan Mountain, where numerous Tuvan nomads live, in Altai Tavanbogd National Park, we will pitch our camp. Shiveet Hairhan is holy for them, so there are about 400 Ibexes there. Sometimes seen, sometimes not seen.Here we will be able to view the biggest petroglyphs from the second period of the Huns (200 B.C.). The Huns were the reason for the Chinese emperor Qin Shi Huangdi to build and finish the Great Wall of China at this time. Overnight will in tents.

Day 11: 25th Sept. Potanin Glacier and Snow Peaks

We will do day hike in the area. In the mountains here, there are some 20 glaciers and this is one of the few locations in the world where camels are used as pack animals in glacier areas. Should weather conditions be difficult we will not be able to see the glaciers. Tavanbogd means “the Holy Five” referring to the five highest peaks, of which Huiten Uul is the highest in Mongolia, 4374 meters above sea level. Quite a considerable height at this latitude.

Days 12-13: 26th -27nd Sept. Big Lakes of Alta Tavan Bogd National Park

Driving towards Big Lakes, we will stay on Snake Valley.There are many Turkic stones with face. After lunch, drive nearby western side of Hurgan Nuur and Hoton Nuur, where many Nomadic Kazakh families spend summer.Along the lakes,we see the beautiful waterfall, rock printings and some ancient Turkic stones with face.On the right side we see the snowcapped mountains with forest, which make the wall between China and Mongolia.

Second day: to Dayan Lake

A half day drives to Dayan Lake, near the frontier with China. Visit Kazakh Nomadic Families and feel their grade hospitalities. Overnight with family.

Day 14: 28th Sept. Back to Ulgii/Hovd

Trek back on the other side of the Tsagaan River. Drive back to Ulgii

Day 15: 29th Sept. Fly To UB

Transfer to the airport and fly to UB approx.4 hrs.
Notes
Price Includes:

English speaking guide, all meals. All overnights in hotels and gers (or with family), camping equipment and all local transport / UB-Ulgii-UB flights /, all Border and National park permits.

Price Excludes:

Drinks and laundry. Single room/tent/ger supplement is USD 20 per night.


Staff:

A local guide who speaks English and Mongolian will accompany the group at all times.A cook will follow, with an assistant.In addition, the services of the local herdsmen will be hired along with their animals.The horsemen follow a traditional lifestyle in the areas where we will be riding.

Meals:

Our cook will prepare the meals. We pride ourselves in having cooks adapt to both western and Mongolian cooking on our trips.T here are always vegetables available, and we have no problem accommodating vegetarians on our trips. For breakfast we can usually buy fresh yogurt from the herdsmen in the local area.
