This tour is meant for those who are interested in the history of World War II. It is devoted to the 900 days and nights of the Siege of Leningrad, September 1941 January 1944, when the city was completely cut off from the rest of the country by the Nazi troops. Not only did the city survive, but victoriously crushed the enemy. During this 7-hour tour you will visit the most important monuments devoted to the unprecedented heroic defence of Leningrad.
Detail Information
Monument to the Heroic Defenders of Leningrad was unveiled in 1975 on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Victory in WWII. In its Memorial Hall decorated with 900 candles, one per each day of the siege, you will see artifacts and documents of the period and a unique documentary film, made during the siege. In only a few minutes this unforgettable film reveals the true story of the people who saved the city from Hitlers destruction.

Memorial Museum of Leningrad Defence and Siege, founded in 1942, but closed in 1949 during Stalin purges and reopened in 1989. It contains a precious collection of over 35,000 original documents and possessions of townspeople and soldiers, such as letters, photographs, and diaries as well as a reconstruction of a typical room and a classroom of the period. You will also listen to the original recording of an air-raid.

Piskarev Memorial Cemetery, the largest in the world cemetery of the victims of World War II, where more than 500,000 people are buried in mass graves. During the siege Leningrad lost more than 1,200,000 people. You will see not only the cemetery and the eternal flame, but also the diary of a small girl Tanya Savicheva where she made records of the deaths of all her family members, with the last page saying, All the Savichevs are dead. They all died of starvation, as the ration of food per day was only 125 grams of bread.
