El Brogit de la Vall is a circular fourstage itinerary along the Brugent River Valley, located in the midst of Muntanyes de Prades (Prades Mountains). The itinerary covers nearly seventy kilometers of paths, three counties, a valley, and a whole world to discover. The Brugent Valley is situated at the heart of Muntanyes de Prades, Area of Natural Interest which comprises a group of mountains of great ecological value. They take up an area of about 260 square km in the region of Tarragona. The major mountains surrounding and protecting the interior of the Brugent Valley are the Serra del Bosc de Poblet (Range of the Forest of Poblet), on the north, and the high plateau of Els Motllats on the south. All of them are over 1.000 metres high. The slopes of Els Motllats give birth to the river Brugent, the most important shaping agent of the Valley over thousands of years. From the river source, at Font de la Llúdriga (fountain), its crystal clear, fresh water irrigates the fertile plain where the village of Capafonts rises. The water endlessly cascades through beautiful ravines, waterfalls and pools.
Detail Information
The circular itinerary El Brogit de la Vall covers the villages of Capafonts, Rojals (Montblanc), la Riba and Mont-ral, in the counties of El Baix Camp, La Conca de Barberà and L'Alt Camp. El Brogit de la Vall follows the course of the river, from its source in the village of Capafonts to its mouth at the river Francolí, by the village of la Riba.

FIRST DAY: CAPAFONTS-FARENA. We start at the bucolic village of Capafonts, located on a hill in the heart of the fertile plains of the Brugent river head. In this stage, you will walk to the Font de la Llúdriga (the otter spring), which is the source of the river Brugent. After climbing Els Motllats, you will go through the mountains which surround the head of the Brugent River, while experiencing some of the best viewpints in the Valley. Finally, you will reach the uninhabited hamlet of Els Cogullons, where the mountain hut sticks out. Length of trail: 23 km

SECOND DAY: FARENA - LA RIBA. We will be walking from Els Cogullons to the outskirts of the village of la Riba, where the water of the Brugent river merges with Francolí's. Along the route, you will see several hamlets and country houses scattered across the Brugent Valley, going along the old bridle paths which communicated these settled areas. You will discover magic sites and enjoy highly diverse environments in a relatively small area. Length of trail: 16,5 km.

THIRD DAY: LA RIBA - MONT-RAL. We leave els Masets mountain hut, in la Riba, which is the lowest point of the route. You will walk to Mont-ral today, which is located between the basins of the rivers Brugent and Glorieta. You will enjoy the splendid views over el Camp de Tarragona and a part of Catalonia. You will get to know el Castell Dalmau, the birthplace of climbing in Muntanyes de Prades, and you will discover the remains of old paper mills up along the river. Length of trail: 15.8 km.

FOURTH DAY: MONT-RAL - CAPAFONTS. On the last stage of the trail along the Brugent Valley, you will walk by the shady slope of Els Motllats, down to the river. You will hear its murmur near you, as you will be walking through the bank forest, past les Fous, where the river goes through impressive walls. The placid return walk to Capafonts will allow you to contemplate the magnificence of the Brugent River. Length of trail: 12 km.
The final price depends on number of people in the group, on the half/full board and accommodations required, and on the number of nights. This price includes the accomodation, full board, local hiking guide and an exclusive hiking pack of the itinerary.
