Dunedin is widely famous as best preserved Victorian and Edwardian heritage city in the whole Southern Hemisphere. Dunedin also bags applaud for featuring the best of bars, cafe and fashion designers in the country. Amongst the lot of tourist attractions in Dunedin one major spot is the Oldest University of New Zealand called Otago University, which has a very famous clock tower which spellbinds most of the students eyes.

Dunedin has mostly moderate climate with warm summers and cold winters. Snowfall is rare, but often happens in the hilly areas. Temperature in summers can blow up to 30C. Dunedin has a large population of approximately 125,000, which is rapidly increasing.

Otago Museum- largest cultural and heritage institution in Otago. Home to a collection of over two million artifacts and specimens from the fields of natural science and human history, the museum is located close to the University of Otago.

St Paul’s Cathedral- the mother church of the Anglican Diocese of Dunedin, it is the seat of the Bishop of Dunedin. The cathedral is located in the heart of the Octagon.

St. Joseph’s Cathedral- the Roman Catholic Cathedral for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Dunedin. Designed by Francis Petre, who designed the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Christchurch and Sacred Heart Cathedral in Wellington, the construction of the cathedral is in keeping with the Gothic style.

Botanic Gardens – Dunedin is one of the major tourist attractions in Dunedin, which is bound to be appealing to all irrespective of age. Established in 1863, it is the oldest botanic garden and remains a finest garden with an extensive and diverse collection of flora and fauna. Located in the heart of the city, the botanic garden offers a great variety of flora. With colorful flowers and a unique vibrancy, it is an excellent place to visit.


Roadways and New Zealand tours are co-facilitated by each other. Roads are marvelous and apt for driving. Visitors mostly hire cars and jeeps for visiting places and excursions. Apart from rented cars one can travel in train as well, Dunedin claims to have one of the busiest railway stations in New Zealand. Many of local residents as well as tourists sometimes commute through this famous train service.

Dunedin International Airport is one of the airport with heavy international and domestic rush. Earlier the airport was only domestic, but the soaring need of tourism brought up the new face of this current international airport.
