Jelenia Gora is a city in Lower Silesia, south-western Poland. The name of the city means deer mountain in Polish and German. It is close to the Sudetes mountain range running along the Polish-Czech border ski resorts such as Karpacz and Szklarska Poreba can be found within 1015 km of the town.
It is an industrial and commercial center. Chartered in 1312, the city passed to Bohemia in 1368. A prosperous weaving center in the 15th and 16th century.
