The museum has a collection of currencies of early Malaya to the present day, including currencies from Asean.
Some of the collections include coins and notes dating from the time of the Melaka Sultanate, and currencies used during the occupation of Portuguese, British, and Japanese in Malaya.
Among the collection include miniature cannons, currencies from the Malay states as well as foreign currencies.
This museum is located in the city centre of Kuala Lumpur in the Maybank Tower near Puduraya. Opening hours: 10:00am – 6:00pm (Mondays to Fridays) The museum is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
How to get there
The museum is easily accessible to the public as it is located in the city centre. Take the PUTRA LRT and stop at Masjid Jamek station. The museum is located in Maybank Tower and is about 10 minutes walk away. Alternatively, take the STAR LRT and stop at Plaza Rakyat Station. You will reach the building in approximately 10 minutes walk.
