Naarden is small city just south of Amsterdam. and is a municipality and a town in the Gooi region in the province of North Holland in the Netherlands. Naarden is an example of a star fort, complete with fortified walls and a moat. The walls and the moat have been restored and are in a very good state.

Naarden is less than half an hour away from Amsterdam by train. It’s another half an hours walk to the Vesting.


At Easter there is always a special performance of the Mattheus Passion In Naarden which is worth to go to. It is sold out in advance on most occasions though.

If you love shopping and never hesitate to buy from expensive shops then this destination much suits you. There are many expensive shops with a focus on fashion and design.
