Paragliding in Uttarakhand

Paragliding in Uttarakhand is very famous activity among tourist and specially for adventure seekers. However, this activity is also for those who love somewhat excitement and hilarious in tour. The paragliding gives us a wonderful opportunity to fly like birds and explore the world from their view. This sport requires minimum technical knowledge and with the help of an experienced pilot you can fly across the scenic grassland and rivers. The paraglider at times achieves the height of thousands of feet, sometimes even surpassing the height of their launch site.

One of the most striking regions in the hills of Uttarakhand is Pithoragarh, Kumaon’s easternmost district. The valley is surrounded by four hills namely Chandak, Dhwaj, Thal Kedar, and Kundar and is the most appropriate place for enjoying paragliding. Mussoorie – the queen of hills, is the second striking place for paragliding with suitable sites for the purpose.

Paragliding is like any other adventure sport where you feel the rush of adrenalin and the element of risk is not any more than probably swimming. A pilot attitude and good judgmental skill are of paramount importance to ensure safety. The essential equipment consists of a glider and a harness that attaches the paraglider firmly and safely to the pilot. Additionally you will require a helmet specially made for gliding (light and sturdy), shoes & gloves, a reserve parachute and a variometer (may or maynot contain a GPS) to gauge the ascent or descent of the glider.
