Organizers include the French tourist cycle federation (FFCT), the Vietnam Adventure, and the Momade Adventure company of the French group Voyageur du Mond.
The cyclists arrived in Ha Noi on March 16 after visiting many well known landscapes in northern provinces, such as the Cuc Phuong National Park, Tam Coc-Bich Dong, Huong Pagoda, and Ha Long Bay.
France Desombre, head of the team, said the group usually chose small paths far from highways to enjoy the natural scenery and meet with local people. He said everywhere they went; they were warmly welcomed by the people. We will return to Viet Nam next year if possible, Desombre said.
Another member of the team, Georges Bertrand, said some roads in the North were hard, but the scenery was wonderful, particularly in Lao Cai, Hoa Binh, Son La, and Lai Chau mountainous provinces. He said the team travelled around 100 km a day, and there was one day they cycled 126 km in rain, adding that they had all got along very well and joined Vietnamese people in their jubilant celebrations.
The team left Ha Noi on March 26, continuing their journey to Central Highlands, and southern provinces, planning to visit cultural and historic sites and landscapes in Hue, Hoi An, Buon Ma Thuot, Dak Lac, Ninh Thuan, Vung Tau, and Ho Chi Minh City on their route. They will also meet with local athletes in Hue and Ho Chi Minh City.
The tour will end in the Can Tho Province on April 10.
