Ukraine waives visas
Ukraine is set to scrap visas for EU and Swiss citizens ahead of the Eurovision Song Contest which is being held in the capital, Kiev. Visas will not be needed to travel to the former Soviet country between May 1 and September 1, according to a presidential decree signed last week. The move is part of the new government’s attempts to attract visitors and show a new, open side of the country following the orange revolution last year. Previously, visitors had to have an official invitation to get a visa. Government officials are considering making the move permanent if it is a success.
