Vietnam central hub has major plans to pull in tourists

A city official said in 2007-10 Danang would run advertising campaigns to promote the city’s image.

Panels featuring Danang’s tourist spots will be on display on major city streets.

Authorities have also told hotels and restaurants to display pictures of appealing tourist spots.

A plethora of tourism-related information and tips will be launched online at for visitors to refer.

The city is set to organize the biennial Danang Culture and Tourism Festival, annual cultural bashes like the International Sailboat Racing Competition, Danang Tourism Days, and the Craft Villages Festival featuring traditional Vietnamese craft villages.

It is also planning to host a Beach Beauty Pageant in a local resort to tap beach tourism.

Authorities unveiled a plan to establish four to six new tourist spots a year, focusing mainly on culture and history.

A large street market open from 6:30pm-11pm on weekends will be set up in December for nocturnal entertainment and shopping for tourists.

Danang is also seeking to bolster cooperation with major tourist operators in neighboring provinces like Quang Nam or Thua Thien Hue to tailor inter-provincial tours for customers’ needs.

Visitors from Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, and China are the main customers Danang is targeting thanks to their cultural affinity with Vietnam and other factors like cheap transport costs.

A major advantage Danang has is its large tourist firms’ long-standing relations with counterparts in traditional markets like the US, France, and Germany.

The city plans to promote those ties.
